Mangaluru/Udupi, Apr 8: No new positive coronavirus cases were reported in Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi districts on Wednesday, April 8. No positive cases were detected on April 5, 6 and 7.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 38,701 people have been screened so far, and 3,635 have been placed under home quarantine.
No patient has been quarantined in Wenlock hospital, while 11 have been quarantined in ESI hospital.
As many as 2,311 people have completed 28 days of home quarantine, and have not reported any symptoms. Altogether, 357 samples have been sent for testing, out of which reports of 348 have been received.
Out of 348 reports received, 336 have tested negative, while 12 have tested positive in Dakshina Kannada. Eight of them are active. On Wednesday, nine samples were sent. All were tested at Wenlock's new laboratory. The reports of seven samples received on Wednesday have all turned out negative. Result of nine samples is awaited.
Currently, 15 people are under observation in Dakshina Kannada. Four have cured and have been discharged.
In Udupi district too, no new case was reported on Wednesday. As many as 28 people were screened today. Sixty-seven people competed 28-day quarantine and 19 of them completed 14-day quarantine on Wednesday.
Thirteen patients were quarantined in hospitals. Six have been placed in isolation wards in hospital, out of whom all four have severe acute respiratory illness (SARI).
Six people were discharged from isolation ward on Wednesday, and altogether 151 have been discharged so far.
Reports of 53 samples received on Wednesday have tested negative. Totally, reports of 291 samples have been received till date.
The number of coronavirus-positive patient remains at three. Reports of 14 samples are awaited. As many as 3 samples were collected on Wednesday.
Kasargod
As many as nine people were tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday in Kerala. Four from Kannur, two from Alappuzha, one each from Thrissur, Pathanamthitta and Kasargod. The total number of COVID-19 cases stand at 345 of which 259 are active. The count has now reached 156 in Kasargod.
