Mangaluru/Udupi, Apr 7: No new coronavirus positive cases were reported in Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi districts on Tuesday, April 7. No positive cases were detected on April 5 and 6.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 38,701 people have been screened so far, and 3,930 have been placed under home quarantine.
No patient has been quarantined in Wenlock hospital, while 10 have been quarantined in ESI hospital.
As many as 1,989 people have completed 28 days of home quarantine, and have not reported any symptoms. Altogether, 348 samples have been sent for testing, out of which reports of 341 have been received.
Out of 341 reports received, 329 have tested negative, while 12 have tested positive in Dakshina Kannada. Eight of them are active. On Tuesday, seven samples were sent. The reports of 10 samples received on Tuesday have all turned out negative. Result of seven samples is awaited.
Currently, three people are under observation in Dakshina Kannada. Four have cured and have been discharged.
Earlier in the morning, virus testing laboratory became officially functional at the government Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru. As many as 10 samples of swab were collected. The results of the tests will be available the same day.
In Udupi district too, no new case was reported on Tuesday.
Regarding patients from Kerala, the district administration has said that they should be brought in ambulance only for emergency treatment and accident cases. Kasargod local government health officer should approve the patient who is coming for treatment is non-coronavirus and also that there was no treatment in Kasargod. As per union Health and Family Welfare ministry, the ambulance in which patients are brought should be sanitized. In the ambulance, the patient should be accompanied by ambulance driver, helper and a paramedic team. At Talapady border, the ambulance and the patient and their documents, will be checked by a medical team. The patient will be then allowed to enter Mangaluru.
Kasargod
As many as four people were tested positive for coronavirus on Monday. With this, the count has reached 155 in Kasargod.
