Riyadh, Nov 17: “Karavali Parba-2009”, a fabulous gala that has fused and brought all the Mangalorean communities together, showcasing a best model for the communal harmony, which is recently being perverted by some vested interests in our Districts….” was the expressive message conveyed by Mr. Vijay Rai, President and Khasim Ahmed, Vice-President of KWAR respectively. The gala was organized on 13th November at Musthashar Istrah in Riyadh, the Capital city of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, by Karavali Welfare Association-Riyadh (KWAR), a social and humanitarian organization being in existence in Riyadh since two years. The curtain of the Gathering was raised at around 8.00 am (Saudi Time) and was brought down at around 8.30 pm with a grand successful ending.
The Parba-2009 morning session was kicked off by KWAR President, Mr. Vijay Rai, who welcomed and called upon the audience to make the events unbeaten by forsaking any slip-up that would be seen in any course of the event held from dawn to dusk.
A lot of games and frolics were organized for men, women and children like Volleyball, throw ball, Pot-hitting play, spot games for children and so on. Banakal Sports Club, Riyadh has kept its first position in tact as last year in the volleyball match. Mrs. Ashwini & Team grabbed the first place in the throwball match.
Afternoon session was followed by a speech competition on the topic of “Namma Karavali” (Our Coastline) for the children. Divya Bhasker Salian and Eden D’Sa have bagged the 1st Prize & 2nd Prize respectively. The consolation prizes were also conferred to Haneen and Noufal. After that, a brief stage programme was arranged for recognizing and thanking the sponsors of the event including briefing about the activities of KWAR over the past two years. Mr. Vijay Rai expressed his gratitude to all the sponsors of the event by handing them flower bouquets. The programme also marked the moment of presentation of cups for the best achievers and “Karavali Pizza-Inn Trophy-2009” to the winners and runners up of the cricket playoff that was held on 06th November 2009.
Suralpady Cricketers won the Trophy-2009 and Mr.Satish Suralpady along with his team members received the prize with cash.
Mangalore Kings, which was founded recently by Mr. Mohammad Yunus Hassan (Hyundai) for the charity cause to be provided to the needy back in home town, came out to be runners up in the final tournament. Mr. Yunus, founder and captain of the team, together with his team members have received the Runners-up Trophy with cash. He said that his team, responding to the recent Daijiworld news on the pathetic condition of Abdul Hameed family from Pottugudde near Bollayi in Bantwal Taluk, has already decided to donate the cash (SR.800) to the family.
Fire Dance by “Brothers Group” was really awesome that kept the audience in the heaving atrium spell bound and was showered with a round of applauses by the whole spectators. Melodious songs in various languages like Kannada, Tulu, Hindi and Malaylam were sung by the person of enthusiastic talents. Eric D’sa & his daughter Ms.Eden D’sa have together mesmerized the audience with their melodious Tulu song.
Pizza Inn was the prime sponsor for the event. Al-Marai, Air India, Hyundai, Air Arabia, OTE were other sponsors alongwith many other individual sponsors. A raffle was also drawn for 3 free return tickets sponsored by Air Arabia to any Indian destination from Riyadh.
A Tulu slapstick drama named “Yaapa Pira” was staged at the end. Mr. P.M. Bhasker and Mr. Rajesh Kumar were the playwrights of the drama, who had also directed the plays. The drama left the whole audience in the ocean of chuckles.
All the members of KWAR have worked hard clad with uniforms for the success of the get-together.
Traditional coastal breakfast and lunch with delicious tang were also served.
