Chennai, Apr 21: Director Karthik Subbaraj has revealed how his team braved unpredictable weather and improvisation to wrap up the upcoming film Retro starring Suriya and Pooja Hegde well ahead of schedule.
Speaking at the film's audio launch at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Subbaraj shared, “We had planned to complete the film in 90 days, but thanks to the dedication of the team, we finished it in just 83 days. The monsoon seemed to follow us everywhere from Andamans to Ooty but we adapted on the go.”
He added that certain scenes were rewritten to suit the rainy conditions, praising the cast and crew for their flexibility and commitment. “Everyday brought a new challenge, but we found ways to make it work,” he said.
Retro stars Suriya and Pooja Hegde in lead roles, with Malayalam actors Joju George and Jayaram, and Tamil actor Karunakaran playing key parts. Suriya reportedly underwent martial arts training in Thailand for the action-heavy role.
The film features music by Santhosh Narayanan, cinematography by Shreyaas Krishna, and editing by Shafique Mohamed Ali. Art direction is handled by Jacki and Mayapandi, while Kecha Khamphakdee choreographs the stunts.
