Abu Dhabi – Nov 10 : Mangalore’s pride prolific former International Cricketer Dayanand Bangera has successfully passed the Level 1 Coaching Certification held last month in Abu Dhabi under the supervision of by ICC’s Global Academy officials.
The panel included Rodney Marsh (Director – ICC Global Academy), Mudassar Nazar (Coach – ICC Global Academy), Dale Hadlee (Chief Instructor/Coach – ICC Global Cricket Academy.
This certification enables him to pursue Level 2 and 3, which is the basic necessity to climb the ladder.
The panel appreciated Dayanand’s effort and had a word of praise during their assessment for being a competent coach .
Bangera - a former Ranji Cricketer player was an excellent wicket keeper batsman in his hay days and has excelled in scoring hundreds of runs and also with his brilliant wicket keeping .
He came to the UAE several years ago and was a regular player for NMC in Abu Dhabi in the 90’s. Subsequently he played for the UAE national team between 1993 and 1996. He also got selected in the 16-member UAE World Cup squad though he was not included in the 14-member team.
As a member of the UAE Cricket team he played against World XI, Pepsi Asia Cup Qualifying round, Wills Cup in Pakistan and a friendly game against India in Sharjah. He travelled world wide and performed extremely well.
Currently he is coaching at the Abu Dhabi Cricket Academy training the budding cricketers with finer points of cricketing.
Bangera hails from Katapadi in the temple town of Udupi and is married to Jyoti and is blessed with two children Diksha and Akshay
Speaking to Daijiworld a soft spoken and humble Dayanand said that he aims to use his experience and skills to train the budding cricketers, passing on his wealth of experience on to the future generation. He dreams of opening a cricket academy in Mangalore and Udupi in the future so that our young cricketers get ample opportunities and get exposure at national and international level.
