I wish to congratulate the organizers of the Muscat Goan Convention on successfully hosting the convention. It is gratifying to observe that Goans, wherever we may be, can organize and coduct occasions of this nature with such grace and cordiality. I only hope that the dignatories present at the convention particularly those from the Government and Hon. Edward Faleiro in particular will seriously discuss and impliment the proposals discussed and pursue the concerns raised during the convention with a purposeful attitude to reach successful resolutions of the issues.

Very often I observe that politicians use these conventions as a photo op and very little if any action is taken to resolve or pursue issues further. I have been present at the two conventions held in Toronto and have observed that maters discussed and action to redress issues is sadly lacking. Hope that this convention will be different in this regard.

An unique opportunity and a powerful platform was provided by Goan Community of Oman (GCO) to Global Goans for interaction and exchanging ideas. Not an easy task and my congratulations to Mr. Flynn De Lima, Dr. Mario, Mr Celso Fernandes and others in the organizing committee for their untiring efforts. The most important step now is implementation. We need to move from intentions to actions.

The Global Goan Convention organised by the GCO was excellent, where the Goans intereacted with each other and were motivated to do something for the upliftment of Goa and Goans. Mr.Clarence Pinto in his speech in konkani (without a single word in English) highlighted the importance of the konkani language

Goa and the Goans should be proud to feel that they have all the required ingredients to promote Trade, Commerce, Travel & Tourism and most importantly the opportunity for foreign investments in Goa. Conventions such as these will bring people together, exchange ideas and coordinate all the future steps to formulate national and international collaborations amongst the Goans in particular and the surrounding Indian sources including our Arab friends. Its always nice to attract the Arab audience on gatherings such as these so that they can interact with each other and visit Goa and the neighbouring areas (including Mangalore) and witness all the growth and prosperity in India. The entire coastline from Mumbai to Cochin is worth developing for purpose of promoting travel and tourism that will also attract many other new opportunities for mutual bilateral trade and commerce. Our new generation have lot to enjoy thru these developments, and the time is now to plan.
