Mangalore: Installation Ceremony of Kinnigoly Rotary Club Organized

Mangalore, Jul 7: The installation ceremony of the new office-bearers of Kinnigoly Rotary Club for the year 2009-10, was held at Sahakara Saudha in Kinnigoly recently. Rtn PHF Krishna Shetty, R I district governor, participated as the installing officer. Rtn PHF P Sathish Rao, assistant governor - zone III and Rtn Jeevandas Shetty, zonal lieutenant - zone III were the chief guests of the function.
Rtn Sharath Shetty and Rtn Balakrishna Shetty, who had been elected as the president and secretary respectively of the local chapter for the year 2009-10, along with other members of their team, took charge of the affairs of the Club. In his address, Sharath Shetty appealed to the Rotarians and the general public to help and support the club to take up good projects towards the welfare of the people and the society.
Outgoing president, Gerald Menezes, expressing satisfaction for the works executed during his tenure, thanked all those who supported him for noble causes. It may be recalled, that he had been honoured by the Rotary Club for the all-round achievement of the club under his stewardship.
Students of the Rotary English medium school, Kinnigoly, who secured highest marks in the recent SSLC examination, were honoured on this occasion. The children of the Rotarians, who secured highest marks in the examinations, were also honoured. Rotary members, who won international awards too, were felicitated.
Rtn PHF P Sathish Rao released the Rotary magazine, ‘Sinchana’ at the venue. In his presidential speech, Rtn PHF Krishna Shetty, while congratulating the Rotary Club of Kinnigoly for the social work they have rendered during the year, quoting from the words of Swami Vivekananda, drove home the point that practicing is much more important than preaching, and practical are better than theory and notes. He requested the Rotarians to look around in the society and take an initiative to help the needy people, thus fulfilling the primary objective of Rotary Club.
Rtn Gerald Menezes welcomed the guests. Rtn Jossie Pinto introduced the guests. Valerian D’Souza introduced the new president and secretary. Rtn Balakrishna Shetty proposed vote of thanks. Rtn Mable D’Souza and Rtn Vedavyasa Udupa compered the programme. The programme ended with a fellowship and family meal.
