Mangaluru, Aug 1: St Aloysius Institutions celebrated the feast of St Ignatius of Loyola on July 31 at Loyola Hall.
The theme of the eucharistic celebration was ‘Give without counting the cost’.
The main celebrant on the occasion was Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, director of St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor. In his homily, he emphasized on the Pope’s expectation towards the Catholic youth especially in character formation and academic excellence. Also how some of the saints once led a life of sin and falsity got converted into holy men. He also emphasized on his life's incidents that put a turning point in his life and changed his attitude to work for the needy.
This was followed by oath taking of the new eucharistic ministers administered by Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ.
The students generously contributed items of utmost requirement to the poor which were sent to Centre for Social Concern (CSC) which will be donated to the poor.
At the end of the eucharistic celebration, the rector spoke about the occasion, followed by the vote of thanks by Fr Dr Praveen Martis SJ.
Refreshments were served to all the staff and students. Around 2000 Catholics students and staff participated in the eucharistic celebration.
