Mangalore, Nov 28: Poetry can be found in nursery rhymes and folklore singing. Language has indeed developed from hearing variety singing, opined Dr Vasant Kumar Perla, at the inaugural of a one-day workshop on Kannada Rajyotsav traditional poetry held recently at Pilikula open air theater. It was organized under the aegis of Dakshina Kannada district Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Pilikula Nisargadama heritage village, and Kalkura Foundation, for the new generation of poets.
Dr Vaman Nandavar, project officer, Pilikula Nisargadama heritage village, in his keynote address said that these kinds of workshops are targeted at the new generation of poets to enable a keen interest in composing poetry on the occasion of Kannada getting classical status from the union government.
