Udupi: Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, unveils division of advanced healthcare simulation

Udupi, Jan 17: Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, a part of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), inaugurated the state-of-the-art division of advanced healthcare simulation on Jan 16.

The facility was formally unveiled by Prof Dr Padmaraj Hegde, dean of Kasturba Medical College, and Dr Anand Venugopal, COO of MAHE Teaching Hospitals.

This pioneering division is dedicated to advanced surgical training and assessment, equipped with high-fidelity simulators to ensure realistic and safe environments for skill development. It caters to a wide range of surgical specialties, including general surgery, surgical oncology, gastro-surgery, thoracic surgery, urology, ophthalmology, and obstetrics & gynaecology.

“This division exemplifies our commitment to advancing medical education through innovation. By providing a realistic, safe environment for surgical training, we are ensuring that our learners are prepared to meet the challenges of modern healthcare,” said Prof Dr Padmaraj Hegde, dean of Kasturba Medical College, Manipal.

Spanning over 10,000 square feet, the division of advanced healthcare simulation is part of the prestigious medical simulation centre and clinical skills lab, making it a comprehensive hub for healthcare training.

The facility offers internationally recognised programmes, including certifications such as ATLS, PALS, PASSH, POCUS, ACLS, and BLS, covering a wide range of medical and surgical emergencies.

“This facility is a game-changer for surgical education in India. By integrating cutting-edge technology and evidence-based simulation training, we are equipping healthcare professionals with the skills they need to deliver exceptional patient care,” remarked Dr Anand Venugopal, COO of MAHE Teaching Hospitals.

The division also boasts one of the largest pools of certified instructors for international resuscitation programs in India, enabling an unparalleled standard of education. Furthermore, it fosters interdisciplinary collaboration among surgical and clinical teams, enhancing patient outcomes and advancing healthcare practices.
