Bhoomi pooja held, foundation laid for Sharada Residential School's new campus at Manipal

Udupi, Jan 17: Bhoomi Pooja and foundation stone laid for the new campus of Sharada Residential School, the one among the prestigious institutions of Dr T M A Pai foundation Manipal, on Friday January 17, at Sharada residential new block, near TAMPI, Manipal.

The foundation stone was laid by T Ashok Pai, president Dr T M A Pai Foundation Manipal.

The ceremony began with the traditional Bhoomi Pooja ritual, followed by the unveiling of the foundation stone by T Ashok Pai.

The project is being spearheaded by the Dr T M A Pai Foundation, with a commitment to providing a well-rounded and enriching environment for students.

Vidyavantha Acharya, director of Sharada Residential School Udupi, “This is our new project, with the idea of expanding our institution. Hostel and academic blocks will be constructed near TAPMI, Manipal. The project will be in three phases. First phase will be constructed in 40 Acres of land, with boys and girls hostel separately along with swimming pool and sports activities costing Rs 100 crore.

When the three phases are completed it will be around 100 acres of land, a project costing around Rs 300 crores. The objective of the whole project is not only academics but importance is given to all types of sports activities, as well as co-curricular activities. Udupi is a centre for cultural activities and will have as many as cultural activities taught to the students. Our intention is to indulge students in at least one sports activity. Our intention is that the latent talent of the student should be brought out and equal opportunity should be given to all. This is a project of Dr T M A Pai foundation Manipal. I am thankful to the president of Foundation Ashok Pai and treasurer and trustee Sachin Pai, because of them the foundation has taken the lead to start this project.”

Akshay Heranjal, architect of new Sharada campus, said, “The whole idea of the project relied on creating a sense of community, sense of belonging and creating a sense of identity for people who are in this whole idea of context and culture of the city. Allowing 800 students to come together and live a spectacular life. We are looking for a holistic approach to the campus. The sports activities are not only amenities, they are part of the culture where the campus will come together.”
