Mangaluru, Oct 9: Shakthi Residential School and Shakthi Pre-university College held a summer camp 'Shakthi Can Create' in the school premises on October 9. Sudana residential school Puttur convener Rev Vijaya Harwin inaugurated the programme after lighting the traditional lamp.

Rev Vijay Harwin said that children should play together with studies. Schools should not be centers preparing children to secure marks. Schools should pay attention towards personality development of children. Society will change only when there is personality development. Our teachers should be able to identify good qualities of children. They should try to bring changes in children according to their interests, he said.



The Nali Kali vision of Dr Shivarama Karanth is conducive to the current era. Parents and teachers should identify the talents of children. Camps like these will help to bring out the hidden talents of students, he said.

Mangaluru corporation corporator Akhila Alva said that children are getting more experience from camps like these than TV and other media. Parents should make use of the camps for the future of their children. May the subjects from different resource persons benefit the children, she said.

Gopalakrishna managing trustee K C Naik presided over the programme. Managing committee member Saguna C Naik, chief adviser Ramesh K, development officer Naseem Banu, Gopalakrishna pre-primary school convener Neema Saxena were present. Organization management official Bykady Janardhan Achar gave a key note address. Shakthi pre university college lecturer Prabhaker G S welcomed. College lecturer Shashikala proposed vote of thanks.
