Mangaluru, Oct 2: St Aloysius Higher Primary School celebrated the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi (Gandhi Jayanti) on October 2 at the school auditorium with great enthusiasm.
Ravi Posavanike a special photographer by profession was the chief guest. He presented a brief history of Mahatma Gandhi to the audience and stressed on Swachh Bharat which Gandhiji had begun then. Gandhiji’s motto was ‘Gunshot never brings Freedom’. His freedom struggle through non-violence brought independence to the country.
Fr Ravi Santhosh Kamath presided over the function appreciating the programme and congratulating everyone on their performance. He said he was happy to be part of the programme especially of the primary school.
Teaching children the importance of non-violence is the need of the hour. The cultural programme was based on non-violence. A short skit on Gandhiji’s life was staged by the tiny tots which was appreciated by all.
A famous devotional song 'Raghupathi Raghava Rajaram' was sung. The entire programme was put up by the students of std II.
At the end of the programme all the students cleaned their classrooms thereby reinforcing the thought on everyone's mind ‘cleanliness is next to Godliness’. Sweets were distributed to all the students.
