Mangaluru: St Ann’s College celebrates International Yoga Day

Mangaluru, Jun 21: The 4th International Yoga Day was celebrated at St Ann’s College of Education on Thursday, June 21.

The event was started by invoking blessings from the Almighty and the instructions from the physical director Suresh Kumar T.

Dr K Ganesha Bhat, doctor, Yogavidhya Theraphy Centre, Mangaluru was the chief guest on the occasion. In his message, he spoke about how complete knowledge about the external world is essential to overcome fear of physical diseases. “One needs to liberate oneself from external sorrows by practicing yogic exercises and enhance the power of the mind,” he said.



Nirvana D’Souza student vice-president gave the highlights of International Yoga Day. Students, prior to the event were briefed about the same by the physical director. Student teachers enthusiastically performed various ‘Asanas’ like Surya Namaskara, Pranayama, Pavanamukthasana, Bhujangasana, Vrukshasana, Ushtraasana etc. The significance of each asana and its benefits were made known to the students.

Principal Dr Sr Clare was present. A group of hundred BEd students along with MEd students and the faculty participated in the same. Shilpa U, student president compered the programme.
