Mangaluru, Apr 19: As part of the ongoing Nitte International Film Festival (NIFF) from April 16 to 19, two discussions on media and politics and on caste and cinema will be held at Bharath Cinemas, Bejai.

A session on ‘Media, Society, and Politics’ will be between national award critic Manu Chakravarthy, and Ramesh Sharma, director of New Delhi Times, on April 18, at Bharath Cinemas, at 8 pm. Ramesh Sharma's Hindi film New Delhi Times (1986), and Emmy Award nominated documentary ‘The Journalist’ and ‘Jihadi’ will be screened at Nitte International Film Festival, prior to the discussion.

The festival is open and free for all members of the public.

There will be a panel discussion on ‘Representation and Identity Politics: Discussions on Caste and Cinema’ by directors including Sachin Kundalkar and Sanal Kumar Sasidharan, on April 19, at Bharath Cinemas, at 8 30 pm. Sanal Kumar Sasidharan's award winning Malayalam film Ozhivudivasathe Kali (An Off Day's Game), and Sachin Kundalkar critically acclaimed Marathi film Gulabjaam will be screened on the April 19, at the Nitte International Film Festival.

All screenings are free at the film festival, where over 60 films from various languages are being screened. There are also interactive sessions between the directors and the audience after every screening.
