Dr Narayana Prabhu inaugurates national conference at SJEC

Mangaluru, Aug 5: Dr Narayana Prabhu  HOD of Department of metallurgical and materials engineering, NITK inaugurated the two day national conference eTime 2016 on 'Emerging trends in Mechanical Engineering' at St Joseph Engineering College premises on Friday August 5.
















Speaking on the occasion the professor said, "Conferences and workshops are places wherein people acquire a large amount of knowledge in a very short time. The learning environment here increases the ideas of an individual. It is the best resource to improve your knowledge base without reading books."

Speaking on the occasion the principal of the college, Dr Joseph Gonsalves said, "Mechanical engineering is the mother of all engineering divisions. All engineering sections rely upon mechanical engineering to implement new ideas. All of us have to work together to foster green engineering so that we reduce the usage of natural resources and control the pollution around us."

The in-charge director Fr Rohith D'Costa in his presidential address called the students to inspire students to take up research. "The role of colleges and students has become multi dimensional. Teachers have to also indulge in research along with regular teaching and to also inspire students to take up research."

"Knowledge is useful when it is passed on to the next person and research is useful when it is shared with the world. I call upon everyone to make the most of this conference."

HOD of mechanical engineering, Dr Sudheer M welcomed the gathering while the organizing secreatry, Dr Purushottham Chippar rendered the vote of thanks. Joel Concessao compered the programme. Vice principal, Dr Rio D'Souza, staff convener Dr James Valder and others were present at the occasion.
