Bengaluru, Aug 2: A gang of six to seven persons bludgeon a notorious rowdy to death at Vijayananda Nagar near Nandini Layout on Sunday July 31 night. Reportedly, the murder was an act of settling scores for a fight which happened the same evening.

Vijay Kumar (27) was killed in this incident. The police have taken into custody four persons including Raju and Naveen into custody in this respect. They are trying to nab the other members of the gang.

It is gathered that Vijay Kumar and Yuvaraj, brothers living near Nandini Layout, have been listed as rowdysheeters in that station. On Sunday evening, he had fought with a person named Raju at around 7 pm at RMC Yard.

Raju, angered by this assault, called some of his friends and invited them to join him to teach Vijay Kumar a lesson. The gang went near Vijay Kumar's house and damaged an auto rickshaw that was parked in front of his house. Vijay Kumar who heard the sound, rushed out with a sword in hand, at which the accused fled. Vijay, who chased them in a motor bike, skidded and fell to the road when crossing a hump. The gang members immediately pounced upon him and attacked him with sticks and stones.

After they came to know of the incident, policemen rushed there and admitted seriously injured Vijay Kumar into a nearby hospital. But he could not be saved.

It is said that the gang members who murdered Vijay are aged between 17 and 18 years, and work as coolies by doing jobs like physical labour and painting at RMC yard. They are residents of Nandini Layout.
