Kolkata, May 25: A defiant Kapil Dev said he has not done anything wrong by joining the Zee Group-backed Indian Cricket League (ICL) even though he remains the BCCI-appointed Chairman of the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

"I haven't done anything wrong. Whatever decision I have taken is for the betterment of the game," the former India skipper told newspersons at the NCA's East Zone centre here on Thursday.

Kapil was named Chairman of the ICL Executive Board, which also includes his former teammate Kiran More, ex-England captain Tony Greig and Australian cricketer-turned-commentator Dean Jones.

Reports are doing the rounds that Brian Lara, Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath and Inzamam-ul Haq would be part of the ICL even though the organisers have so far refused to confirm.

Former England pacer Darren Gough has also expressed his interest to play in the ICL, scheduled some time later this year.

Zee group, headed by Subhas Chandra, will pump in Rs 100 crore in the ICL.

Kapil, whose position in NCA an is an honorary one, also made it clear that he did not consider it necessary to seek BCCI's permission before joining ICL.

"I will give my answer about joining ICL when BCCI asks for it," the former all-rounder said.

Shifting his focus to the game, Kapil said more top-class cricket tournaments were needed to groom talented players in the country.
