Mangaluru, Apr 4: Sri Rama Sene on Saturday April 4 accused the union and the state governments of following 'anti-Hindu' policies and demanded the immediate arrest of Prof K S Bhagawan, a rationalist and critic, for making derogatory statements on Hinduism.
Addressing a press meet at Arya Samaj office here, state working president of Sri Rama Sene Sri Siddalinga Swamiji said, "K S Bhagwan has insulted the Hindu community by criticising the Hindu gods and godesses and passing derogatory comments on Rama and Sita. Being a professor, what is the message he is giving to society? But though he is passing derogatory statements, he is neither arrested nor jailed. This stand of the state government shows that it agrees with what he is saying."
He further said, "90-year-old Dr Chidananda Murthy was detained by the police and the state government for his Devaradasi Mayya. But when the Hindu community was insulted by K S Bhagawan, no action was taken by the government. Sri Rama Sene condemns this dual stand of the state governmnt.
"To protest against the government and demand immediate arrest of K S Bhagawan will gherao district incharge minister Ramanath Rai in the coming days. We will do this not only in Dakshina Kannada but all over the state," he warned.
Criticizing the union government in reference to Malegaon blast accused Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, he said, "From past nine years Sadhvi Pragya Thakur has been in jail though she is suffering from cancer. Till today no chargesheet has been filed in court, because there is no proof of her involvement in the blast. At the same time, the BJP unfortunately formed government with the PDP in Kashmir and released separatist Masarat Alam who is accused in the murder of 108 people. PDP means 'Pakistan Development Party'. Why is BJP taking such dual stand on these issues? Why is there one law for Muslims and another for Hindus?
"Sri Rama Sene condemns this stand by the union government. We will hold a signature campaign of one crore people demanding the President to put pressure on the BJP-led government to release Sadhvi Pragya," he added.
On the issue of cow slaughter, he said, "Maharashtra, Haryana and some other states have already banned cow slaughter. The BJP-led government should ban cow slaughter in the entire nation and declare cow as the national animal.
"Chief minister Siddaramaiah who talks on secularism yesterday (Friday April 3) permitted Hajj pilgrims to offer prayers at Shakti Soudha, but he had issued notice not to worship Jadalingeshwara in temple at Shakti Soudha. The CM should allow performing puja to Jadalingeshwara," he sai.
"The union and the state governments are following anti-Hindu policies and Muslim appeasement," he alleged.
When reporters asked if he was supporting the Modi-led government as during the last elections, he said, "Narendra Modi should implement uniform civil code and ban cow slaughter and take action those who support terrorism in Madrasas and also against Pakistan. We are not supporting BJP, but we will support Modi if he fulfils all these demands."
He also announced that Manohar Tulajaram has been appointed Dharmajagruti provincial convener, and Vijayashree Gatty has been appointed chief of Durga Sene with Shobha Sandeep as secretary.
State secretary of SRS Praveen Valke, divisional president Anand Shetty Adyar, district president Jeevan Neermarga were present.
