Mangaluru, Mar 29: After success of 'Nirel' which bagged 5 awards recently in Mangaluru including for the Best Film, Sandhya Creations has come up with yet another Tulu film, 'Dhand' (Army), which completed shooting in 45 days after the muhurat took place at Sharavu Maha Ganapathi Temple recently. 'Dhand' movie has the tagline 'Pira Onji Gobbu Suru' meaning 'The Game Begins Again...!'
"Dhand", a complete package of comedy, action, story and melody has well-known Mangalurean stars such as Arjun Kapikad, Sandeep Shetty Manibettu, Anoop Sagar, Deepak Paladka, Umesh Mijar, Gopinath Bhat, Pradeepchandra Kuthpady, Ranjan Boloor, Manju Rai Mulur and many more. Shilpa Suvarna, Nidhi Maroli and Anvitha Paru are the new faces in female lead roles along with other well-known faces.
As briefed by director Ranjith Bajpe (of 'Nirel' fame), Arjun will emerge as an action hero of Mangaluru with the release of 'Dhand', while Sandeep Shetty Manibettu has a much bigger role blending comedy and emotion. This movie will give both these actors an extra mileage in the field of Tulu cinema. To add spice, there is an item number belly dance for the first time in Tulu cinema. Melodious songs have been composed by 'Nirel' music director Abhishek S N with beautiful lyrics written by Rajanish Amin and Loku Kudla out of which one song has been already recorded in the voice of Sonu Nigam and another with Anoop Shanker while the rest are in process.
Sujith Naik has done excellent editing of the movie including teasers and promo. Karthik Mallur from Bengaluru has captured the entire movie brilliantly and his camera work will be another highlight of the movie. Sudhakar Kudroli, the executive producer of the movie has managed the production work effectively.
Surakshitha Shetty as costume designer has given beautiful colour to the movie as the first ever female costume designer in Tulu movie. Prasanna Bailoor and Pradeep Barboza Paladka have ably written special dialogues of the movie.
The story is based on issues of drug abuse and harassment of women going on in the state currently and how a real hero in everyone can get up and stand against this menace in the hour of need. Written and directed by Ranjit Bajpe, the film has action by well-known stunt master Ultimate Shivu (Ugram fame). Dances have been choreographed by Akul N for melodious songs. The entire film is being shot in various beautiful locales of Mangaluru.
Producer Shodhan Prasad said that this film is very different from 'Nirel'. The film is well made, keeping in mind the quality, latest technology and resources needed to set new standards in Tulu film making. He also added that every effort is being made to take Tulu film industry to a new level without compromising on quality so that Tulu films get good recognition worldwide. "A team of enthusiastic youngsters have put in all their efforts with their new thinking in the making of 'Dhand' which will be another great presentation from Sandhya Creations," said Shodhan.
Expected to hit theatres in May this year, 'Dhand' is in the process of final technicalities to complete the production. The cast and crew are confident that it would win appreciation from the audience.
