Beltagady, Jan 5: In connection with the attack on a Hindu youth with sword at Brahmagiri in Madantyar in the taluk over a month back, the policemen arrested an accused on Saturday January 3.
Samir Borugudde was arrested for being involved with an incident in which some youngsters belonging to another religion had followed Ashok Navada, son of Narayana Navada from Machchina village in motor bikes, and attacked him with sword before speeding away. Navada was treated in Beltangady hospital for his injuries.
Ashok had thereafter filed a complaint in Punjalakatte station. He had named Samir Borugudde and another unidentified person as the attackers. Various Hindu organizations thereafter led protest rally in Madantyar, registering their anger at the failure of the police department in nabbing the accused even after a week of the incident.
A taluk level protest was scheduled to be organized on January 6 against police inaction in this case. Leaders of Hindu organizations said that the planned protest has been dropped in view of the above arrest.
Samir was produced in the presence of judge on Saturday night, whereupon he was remanded to judicial custody. Station house offier of Punjalakatte police station said that the accused will be produced in the court on Monday.Mangaluru: Entrepreneurial skills will be encouraged: Nirmala Sitharaman
