Opt for khadi look on Republic Day

New Delhi, Jan 25 (IANS): Designer Rimi Nayak has launched an exclusive khadi collection for Republic Day. She says it is a perfect blend of ancient and contemporary India.

“The theme of my new collection is Khadi and it is inspired by an ancient look. I wanted others to focus their attention all over again on khadi wear this Republic Day as the fabric is a perfect blend of ancient and contemporary India,” Nayak told IANS.

Titled Garbow Collection, the line comprises kurtas, shirts and jumpsuits to give a fashionable touch.

Nayak has used different forms of khadi - poly khadi fabrics, cotton khadi fabrics, silk khadi fabrics and woollen khadi fabrics in a colour palette of blue, white and green.

The designer has also suggested ways to jazz up clothes in khadi, which was widely promoted by Mahatma Gandhi during his lifetime.

“Khadi can look glamorous by teaming it up with embroidered shirts or blazers. The key to make it glamorous is by making it look as young as possible. The more it is fashionable, vibrant, colourful, the more will the youngsters opt for khadi wear.

“Khadi skirts could be worn with jazzy tops so that it goes well with the plain texture of the khadi. Khadi could also be worn for work such as by wearing khadi jeans, khadi blazers and khadi shirts,” she said.
