Mangaluru, Feb 2: The three-day beach festival and triathlon, organized by IDFC First Bank and Tapasya Foundation at Tannirbavi Beach from January 31, has successfully attracted thousands of tourists. The festival, which showcases the agricultural and folk life of coastal communities through agricultural fairs and still-life exhibits, has become a major attraction. Tourists are immersing themselves in the cultural extravaganza featuring sports, music, and other programmes. On the second day, Saturday, a large number of visitors gathered at the beach, creating a festive atmosphere.

At the agricultural fair, stalls displaying various agricultural products, seeds, plants, and farming tools drew significant interest, with visitors enthusiastically purchasing items. The still-life exhibits depicting coastal agricultural life also captivated the crowd. Young people were seen taking selfies alongside life-sized models of women planting paddy, men threshing rice, and oxen plowing fields.

The beach also hosted traditional Kerala kalaripayattu performances, mallakhamb displays, and musical programs by the Swaradhi team, which were major highlights.

Nihal Tauro’s musical evening on Feb 2

The festival’s main attraction, a musical performance by renowned singer Nihal Tauro, is scheduled for February 2 at 8 pm. A fashion show will precede the event at 7 pm.

Overwhelming support from the public

“The third edition of the beach festival has received unprecedented support from the public. Tapasya Foundation, in collaboration with IDFC First Bank, has organized this festival to support cancer patients. Tourists and Mangaluru residents have expressed their happiness with our initiative. This is a moment of celebration for Mangaluru, and we look forward to welcoming even more people on February 2,” said Sabita R Shetty, founder of Tapasya Foundation.

Beach festival and agricultural fair a success

“The beach festival and agricultural fair have successfully attracted the public. This event has been organized with a noble purpose. The support we’ve received this year from the district administration and various departments has surpassed that of the first two editions. We hope more people will join us and help fulfill our vision,” said Naveen Hegde, trustee of Tapasya Foundation.
