Udupi, Feb 2: In a pioneering effort to integrate entrepreneurship and well-being, the Innovation Centre of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), in association with the yoga department of KMC, hosted "Startup Yoga" —a unique event aimed at highlighting the significance of mental and physical health for aspiring entrepreneurs.
Entrepreneurship is often associated with relentless hustle, but true success is built on a foundation of well-being. Recognising this, "Startup Yoga" is aimed at promoting holistic health among student entrepreneurs thereby, ensuring they are as resilient mentally and physically as much as they are ambitious.
The event was graced by several distinguished dignitaries, including Dr Raviraja N S, chief operating officer, MAHE, Cdr Dr Anil Rana, director, MIT, Dr Somashekara Bhat, joint director, MIT Dr Mohammad Zuber, chief innovation officer, MAHE, Dr Annapoorna K, HoD, yoga department and Dr Santhosha Rao, CEO, MUTBI.
In his opening address, Dr Raviraja N S highlighted the importance of balancing entrepreneurship and well-being, emphasising that physical and mental resilience are essential traits for any innovator. He also elaborated on the profound essence of yoga through Sanskrit shlokas. Cdr Dr Anil Rana further reinforced the idea that entrepreneurs should not only focus on business growth but also prioritise personal well-being to sustain long-term success.
To foster overall well-being, the yoga department of KMC, Manipal takes an integrative approach by combining traditional yoga practices with modern medical science. It has made remarkable contributions through research in yoga therapy, international collaborations, and wellness programmes, advancing holistic health across diverse communities.
The event also served as an important platform to build momentum for the upcoming Manipal Entrepreneurship Summit (MES) 2025, scheduled from February 6 to 8. MES 2025, the flagship entrepreneurship event of MAHE, will bring together industry leaders, investors, startup founders, and students to foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.
The summit will feature high-profile speakers, including Dr Arokiaswamy Velumani, founder of Thyrocare, Ashneer Grover, renowned entrepreneur and investor, Raj Shamani, founder of House of X & Podcaster of the year, Iqlipse Nova, co-founder of BigBrainCo.
A key highlight of "Startup Yoga" was the Gait Analysis initiative, led by David Saldhana, founder of Aion Health Solutions and innovated by Biobreath Health Solutions Pvt Ltd. This cutting-edge analysis helped participants understand their posture and movement patterns, contributing to long-term physical well-being.
The main yoga session was conducted by Dr Lavya Shetty, a leading expert in yoga, integrative medicine, and transdisciplinary medicine. Under her guidance, participants engaged in breathwork, mindfulness, and yoga postures, reinforcing the idea that a healthy body and mind are crucial for a successful entrepreneurial journey. Students from E-Cell, startup founders, and faculty participated in this event.
The innovation & entrepreneurship ecosystem at MAHE has always focused on holistic student development. Through initiatives like E-Cell MIT, MAHE Innovation Centre, and MES, students are not only encouraged to build startups but also to develop resilience and leadership skills.
As a gesture of appreciation, Dr Raviraja N S presented a token of gratitude to Dr Lavya Shetty for leading the session.
Before concluding, participants were reminded to visit the Gait Analysis stall and collect refreshment coupons, ensuring they left the event rejuvenated and inspired. With "Startup Yoga" setting the tone for a dynamic and high-energy MES 2025, the stage is set for one of the most impactful entrepreneurial gatherings in the region.
