Channapatna, Feb 2: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has promised to make Ramanagara, which has been renamed as Bengaluru South district, as Number 1 district in the entire State.
Addressing a massive rally organised by the ruling Congress party at Channapatna on Sunday to thank the voters for reposing their faith in the party and electing C P Yogeshwar as Congress MLA, Shivakumar said the party is committed to keep all its promises to the voters of Channapatna.
The people of the entire State were eagerly waiting and watching the outcome of the elections as Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy leader’s son Nikhil was fielded at JDS-BJP candidate against Yogeshwar, who had resigned as BJP MLC to join Congress and contest on its party symbol, he said and pointed out that the by-election necessitated by the resignation of Kumaraswamy upon becoming JDS Lok Sabha member from Mandya with BJP support.
“As the son of this district, it is my duty to make the Bengaluru South district as Number One in the State and I have taken it as a challenge,” he said.
Shivakumar, who is also KPCC President, said the people of the entire district have elected four legislators from the Congress party which is a big honour. “We will implement all our promises during the election,” he said.
