Dr B A Vivek Rai to grace Alva's Vishwa Nudisiri Virasat

"Veteran literary figure Dr B A Vivek Rai will attend the Alva’s Vishwa Nudisiri Virasat 2013," said Dr Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva's Education Foundation here at a press meet here Wednesday November 13.

Alva’s Vishwa Nudisiri Virasat- 2013 will be held in Vidhyagiri, Moodbidri from December 19 to December 22. The event will be presided over by Dr B A Vivek Rai, a well known literatteur, researcher, poet, and retired vice-chancellor of Hampi Kannada University and Karnataka State Open University.

A grand procession presenting the rich heritage and culture of Karnataka will be held on December 19, followed by the inauguration of the Nudisiri event. Approximately two lac people per day are expected to visit the event, and nearly 10 lac during the four days of the event.

Dr B A Vivek Rai was born on December 8, 1946 in Punacha of Puttur taluk. After the completion of his school, PU and BSc in Puttur, he completed his MA in Kannada and PhD in Mysore University.

He has done research in the field of language and culture, written books, poems, novels, etc and has bagged a number of awards and recognitions for his works.

He bagged the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award in 1999, Karnataka Janapada and Yakshagana Academy Award in 1996, Sandesha Award in 2000, Tulu Sahitya Academy Award in 2002 and many more.

He has also been a member of various associations like Folklore Fellows, Finland, International Society for Folk Narrativie Research, Sahitya Academy, New Delhi and so on.

Presently, he is a member of the executive committee of Pilikula Nisargadama trust, Mangalore, Dr Alva added.

Dhananjal Kumble, lecturer and Chengappa A D, media relations officer were also present.
