Mangaluru, Dec 31: The annual "Time Square Music Festival 2024" took place at the Time Square of the Valachil campus, Expert Mangaluru. The event was inaugurated by renowned Carnatic singer and doyen of Dasa Sahitya, Dr Vidyabhushana.
Dr Vidyabhushana emphasised the significance of acquiring knowledge and becoming proficient, which empowers individuals to achieve their goals. He commended Expert Institutions for their dedication, stating, "This organisation is committed to supporting students in achieving their goals, demonstrating a strong commitment to their success."
The audience was spellbound as Dr Vidyabhushana performed a few soulful "Dasara Pada," with Prof Narendra L Nayak accompanying him on the harmonium and Shri Rajesh Bhagavath on the tabla.
Prof Narendra L Nayak, chairman of Expert Group of Institutions, and Dr Ushaprabha N Nayak, vice-chairperson, felicitated Dr Vidyabhushana for his remarkable contribution to music.
The highlight of the evening was a captivating fusion music performance by the team "Shiva." The talented musicians, including Ustad Rafique Khan on the sitar, Praveen D Rao on the keyboard, Ankush N Nayak on the sitar, Vidwan Manjunath on the mridangam, Manjunath N S on drums, Vinay Sharva on vocals, Rajesh Bhagavath on tabla and percussion, P K Santhosh on the ghatam, and Russell Rodrigues on the bass guitar, mesmerised the audience with their compositions, including "Shiva - An Invocation," "Eternal Love," and "Pibare Ramarasam."
Prof Nayak and Dr Ushaprabha N Nayak also felicitated Ustad Rafique Khan, Ankush N Nayak, and Praveen D Rao for their exceptional performance.
Campus resident mentor Anitha P Shetty welcomed the dignitaries, while Dr N K Vijayan Karippal, principal, presented the concluding remarks. Dhruthi V Hegde, assistant programme director, hosted the event.
