Govindaraju explained, “Every day, liquor worth Rs 100 crore is sold in Karnataka. However, due to the government holiday on December 27, tipplers could not purchase alcohol. As a result, on December 28, the depots of Karnataka State Beverages Corporation Limited (KSBCL) extended loan facilities to liquor license holders, which led to the record sale on that day.”
He further stated, “Those holding liquor licenses availed loans worth Rs 150 crore. On December 28, 622,062 cases of whisky and other spirits were sold. In total, 1,027,060 cases, including 404,998 cases of beer, were sold. This includes beer worth Rs 80.58 crore, while spirits accounted for Rs 327.50 crore. This is a record-breaking sale in a single day. The association expresses its gratitude to the officials who cooperated in achieving this record liquor sale.”
In addition, resorts, hotels, and homestays are brimming with people in anticipation of the New Year celebrations on December 31. The association expects a bumper sale on the final day of the year.
