Bantwal, Dec 31: Bantwal MLA Rajesh U Naik visited the Food division office at the Taluk Administration Building on Tuesday and instructed officials to provide accurate information to the public regarding the ration card distribution process.
On Monday, December 30, and Tuesday, December 31, hundreds of people had gathered at the Revenue Department offices to collect their ration cards. Many beneficiaries, exhausted from waiting in long queues throughout the day, had contacted the MLA by phone to lodge complaints.
In response, the MLA made an impromptu visit to the department, obtained information about the issue, and directed the officials to ensure the smooth distribution of ration cards to the public without causing any inconvenience.
On December 31, rumours went viral on social media that it was the last day to collect ration cards, causing panic among the people, who then stood in long queues outside the department office.
The MLA reassured the public that there was still time to collect their ration cards and urged people not to fear. He also recommended that a official statement from the taluk Tahsildar be shared through the media to clear any confusion or misgivings.
Prominent individuals including Vikas Puttur, Shantaveer Poojari, Shashikanth Shetty, Arumudi Sarapadi, Anoop Mayya, Mohan P.S. Shivraj Kandil, Pranam Ajjibettu, and Anand Shamburu were present during the visit.
