Kasargod, Nov 12: A special police investigation team has arrested one more suspect for having assisted in the murder of real estate dealer Muttalib(38) of Uppala.
The person is identified as Ansari alias Ansar (24) of Kurudupadavu. Ansari is alleged to have helped Kalia Rafeeq, the primary suspect to go into hiding. He had assisted for Kalia’s accommodation and helped him escape when the investigating team had gone to Mumbai to arrest him.
Ansari is said to be a friend of Kalia. Police arrested Ansari after being informed of his arrival home.
Mohammed Rafeeq of Uppala Mulinja, who had helped the suspects in the crime was arrested a few days ago. Mohammed had helped the suspects to flee to Karnataka after the crime.
Muttalib was murdered on October 24, 2013 by shooting and lethal weapons when he was on his way back home in his car. Having got information that Kalia Rafeeq group is involved in the crime, the investigation centered around it.
Police had searched for the suspects in Mangalore, Madikeri, Mumbai and other places. Two of the suspects who are alleged to have assisted in the crime have been arrested and the primary suspects including Kalia Rafeeq are still to be traced.
