Mangalore, Oct 8: Multi-talented Puttur Suresh Nayak, who has already made a name for himself and even earned a place in the record books, has initiated a public awareness campaign for the differently-abled.
The campaign was inaugurated by Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah on September 29 at Rosario Church hall, during the district Congress workers' meet.
Addressing a press meet here on Monday October 8, Suresh Nayak said that the campaign has been organized with a view to spread awareness among the general public, especially with regard to promoting equality for the differently-abled people in the society.
Being differently-abled himself, he has been organizing this awareness campaign for the past 20 years along with various programmes which include Bhajans, tiger dance, Yakshagana, Krishna Vesha, dramas with jokers and much more. He has presented close to 1000 programmes in and around the district.
This year he has chosen a 'Jaado' (magic) show for spreading awareness. He presented his first magic act at Rosario hall for the chief minister, where he produced a shawl and garland using magic tricks.
He has planned to present magic shows in different schools and colleges around the district. "If any association or individual sponsors come forward to support this cause, we will present the magic shows in different parts of the state also,"said Puttur Umesh Nayak, brother of Suresh Nayak.
Puttur Suresh Nayak’s name has also been entered in the 2013 Limca Book of Records for recalling 518 telephone numbers in 72 minutes; Asia Book of Records for the longest tongue and India Book of Records for recalling 204 telephone numbers in 30 minutes.
