Panaji, Jan 18: At the eighth edition of the Goa Bird Festival, forest minister Vishwajit Rane emphasized the importance of collaboration among experts to create a comprehensive bird atlas, which could enhance birdwatching and wildlife management efforts across the region.
Speaking at the event, Rane highlighted that such an atlas would assist photographers and birdwatchers in planning their visits more effectively by focusing on species availability and seasonal patterns. "The atlas would make it easier to capture images of exotic bird species, benefiting both enthusiasts and researchers," he stated.
Rane also called for greater involvement from wildlife experts not only from Goa but also from other states to help improve the region's wildlife ecosystems. With proper planning and collaboration, he expressed optimism that significant progress could be achieved over the next decade.
In addition to his support for wildlife conservation, Rane also addressed the issue of daily wage workers, asserting that those who have served for 16 years should be granted regularisation of their jobs. "I will have a word with the Chief Minister to ensure their issues are resolved," he assured, showing his commitment to supporting long-serving workers.
The festival continues to draw attention to Goa's rich birdlife, fostering collaboration and awareness around the state’s biodiversity.
