Panaji, Jan 17: Minister for Waste Management Babush Monserrate has reaffirmed that the Bainguinim waste treatment plant will be established, despite opposition from MLA Rajesh Faldesai. Addressing concerns raised by Faldesai, Monserrate stated that while the MLA is focused on protecting the interests of his constituents, the plant's implementation will proceed as it is a project that benefits the larger community.

“This project is essential, and no one should take this issue personally,” Monserrate remarked, emphasizing the broader advantages of the facility. He also noted that while Faldesai is likely to participate in the foundation stone-laying ceremony, his role in the project’s completion remains uncertain.

Monserrate's firm stance comes amidst growing discussions about the plant's feasibility and impact, aiming to reassure stakeholders of its inevitability and importance for waste management in the region.
