Udupi : Rs 5k crore Coastal Tourism Plan Ready - Moily

Udupi, Sep 24 (DHNS) : Union minister for Corporate Affairs and Power M Veerappa Moily said on Sunday that the Union government plans to infuse Rs 5,000 crore along Indian’s coast line as part of a mega tourism project.

He said the Union government will initially release Rs 50 crore to each state.

Moily said the project would be launched in the current fiscal. He was speaking to reporters after a meeting with the Congress party’s district workers.

He said directions had been issued to state governments to come up with blue prints for investments, and also to look into issues pertaining to the coastal regulatory zone (CRZ) rules.

Karnataka’s government was asked to send a report on possibilities of tourism ventures in between Karwar and Ullal. Moily has also asked Udupi district administration to send proposals of tourism projects in the region.

The minister said talks were held with officials of the National Highway Authority of India over the impending widening of road from Kundapura to Karwar.
The officials were asked to start work in two months. The stretch will be widened to a six-lane road. The tender process for this was over, he said.

Come on Mr Moily why are you making these grandoise statements of Rs 50 crores for tourism between Karwar & Udupi.
Have you seen the state of the road called NH 17- between Kumta & Udupi there is hardly anything resembling even a road- I travelled on this road about a month ago and am still suffering the after effect of a damaged spine & painful muscles- thanks to the deep potholes.
The tourists will run away rather than visit the tourist spots.
Money down the drain or into someones pockets.

Mr. Moily whenever he goes to undivided districts just to get some cheers he says something which will not materalize, so far Mangalore airport being International was on his card now something else, by then elections will be held and everything will be brushed aside, just promises nothing else, some will clap thats it, all have taken him for granted and will continue to do so, we had enough powerfull MP from our districts in the past still udupi/Mangalore is the same, we should learn from the MP's of Kerala, how once in the center they try to push projects for their state, hats off to them, lets not be jealous, but lets learn from them

Well Respected Moily sir, Pantina sullu aandala kenreg edde apundu ...budi tarayiee......(Ashtami da)
(Sounds good to hear but fake promises)
Moily sir, you used to visit once in a every six months with new promises to the people of coastal Karnataka. But you never cares of implementing those promises you made earlier, for example Mangalore International Airport Status to Bajpe/Kenjar Terminal. Still a day dream..?? (even after six years of international flights begun from Bajpe)
We take your fresh promise of 5K Crore Coastal Tourism project as a day dream and may not be implemented literally till the current generation alive and could see your dream project....

How is it that the announcement regarding department of tourism is coming from union minister for corporate affairs and power. May be he has nothing to say about power. This is same as "Mangalore International airport" supposed to have happened by Dec 2010 as per the then honourable law minister...???????

Unless the CRZ is made ' tourism friendly ', nobody will invest in coastal tourism. Neighbouring states like Kerala & Goa are thriving on tourism. Karnataka has one of the prettiest coastline in the country.
