Mumbai, Mar 14: Delhi Capitals have named Indian all-rounder Axar Patel as their new captain for the upcoming IPL 2025 season. Patel takes over the leadership role following Rishabh Pant’s move to Lucknow Super Giants.

Expressing his gratitude, Patel said, “It is an absolute honour to lead Delhi Capitals. I am thankful to the owners and support staff for believing in me. Over the years, I have grown as a cricketer and an individual at this franchise, and I feel confident about this new responsibility.”

Since joining the Capitals in 2019, the 31-year-old has been a crucial member of the team, contributing both with the bat and ball. In 82 matches for the franchise, he has accumulated 967 runs and picked up 62 wickets. Patel also played a key role in India’s recent Champions Trophy triumph, showcasing his all-round abilities.

Delhi Capitals will begin their IPL 2025 campaign against Lucknow Super Giants on March 24 in Visakhapatnam. Fans eagerly await Patel’s leadership as the team eyes a strong performance this season.
