Udupi, Mar 14: In a vibrant and empowering celebration of International Women's Day, Kasturba Hospital Manipal hosted a remarkable event at the Dr TMA Pai Hall, KMC Manipal. This year, the event was marked under the theme #Accelerate Action “For all women and girls: rights. equality. empowerment.” This theme emphasized the collective effort required to unlock equal rights, power, and opportunities for all, creating a future where no one is left behind. The day was dedicated to honouring women’s contributions across society and highlighting the importance of their empowerment.
The occasion was graced by a distinguished group of guests, including Vidya Anand, Prasanna Padmaraj, Sujatha Avinash Shetty, Dr Shashikala, and Preethi Shetty, who shared their insights on the theme of the day. Dr Shashikala, in her speech, highlighted the importance of self-care for both men and women, stressing that only when individuals prioritize their own health and well-being can they effectively handle other responsibilities. Her message resonated with the audience, reinforcing the notion that personal well-being is crucial for effective leadership and care for others.


A key highlight of the event was the inauguration of the “Tuck Shop Exhibition and Sale,” which showcased home products created by women employees of Kasturba Hospital. The exhibition was a testament to women’s entrepreneurial spirit and self-reliance, embodying the concept of Atma Nirbhar (self-sufficiency). The items on display included homemade food items, art & craft, fresh vegetables, fun games, fashion jewellery & beauty parlour, and various forms of entertainment, allowing visitors to support the women’s initiatives while also enjoying a variety of offerings.
The stall was a celebration of women’s talents and creativity, offering an opportunity for the hospital’s women employees to showcase their homegrown products. The event was also an expression of the hospital’s commitment to empowering women through entrepreneurship and self-sustainability.
Dr Anand Venugopal, Dr Avinash Shetty, and Dr Shiran Shetty were present to lend their support to the cause, reaffirming their commitment to women’s health and empowerment.
