Mumbai, Mar 8: The Airport police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against a woman and her maternal aunt following the death of a 41-year-old man in a five-star hotel in Vile Parle East on February 28.

Initially recorded as an accidental death, the case took a turn after investigators discovered a message on the deceased’s phone, directing his family to a suicide note stored online. The note reportedly held his wife and her aunt responsible for his death.

The deceased, a social worker from Kanpur, had been struggling with financial losses and family disputes. He had arrived in Mumbai two days prior to the incident and checked into the hotel.
Following a complaint from the man’s 64-year-old mother, an FIR was lodged under Section 108 (abetment to suicide) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

A senior police official confirmed that the case is under investigation, with authorities analyzing digital evidence to determine the circumstances leading to the tragedy.
