Mumbai, Mar 7: Maharashtra deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde on Friday called on the opposition to set aside politics and contribute to the state's development, emphasizing the government’s commitment to making Maharashtra prosperous.
Responding to the debate on the Governor's address in the state council, Shinde assured that historic welfare initiatives and rapid industrial growth will drive Maharashtra’s progress under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ leadership. "We are working with double the speed and quadruple the capacity to ensure prosperity for farmers, youth, women, and the common man," he said.

Addressing concerns over the Ladki Bahin Yojana, Shinde dismissed claims that the scheme would be discontinued. "The scheme remains intact, and eligible beneficiaries will not be disqualified," he asserted, accusing the opposition of spreading misinformation.
On high-security number plates, he clarified that Maharashtra’s rates are competitive compared to other states, as they include GST and fixing charges.
Shinde also hailed Maharashtra’s record-breaking foreign investment, revealing that the state received Rs 1.39 lac cr in FDI in the first nine months of 2024-25. "Over 80% of Davos investment MoUs have been implemented, proving Maharashtra’s credibility as an investment hub," he said.
Tourism, affordable housing, and infrastructure remain top priorities, Shinde added, reaffirming Maharashtra’s position as a leading state in Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) rural housing projects.
