Mangaluru: St Agnes PU College organizes Abhaya session on mental health

Mangaluru, Sep 20: Abhaya the women’s forum organized an enlightening session on mental health for the students of St Agnes PU College on September 18. The first session was conducted for the students of commerce and arts stream and the second session for the students of science stream.

Dr Rameela Shekhar, director, Manashanthi Counseling, Mangaluru was the resource person. She began the session with an activity encouraging students to reflect on the question WHO AM I and share their thoughts. She emphasized the importance of building a strong mind, as it serves as the core foundation of a person’s strength.

She highlighted the need to reframe negative thoughts to positive one by reframing words and phrases like I CAN’T to I CAN. She stressed on the need to accept physical negativity along with positive aspect of oneself. She gave pointers on how to manage stress effectively and accentuated the importance of self-belief. She concluded by reinforcing that PUC is the best time of life and encouraged students to make use of the opportunities that comes in their way.

Shihama compered the first session and Shamitha welcomed the gathering and introduced the resource person. Bhargavi was the MC for the second session and Anjali introduced the resource person. Prajna and Ferin delivered the vote of thanks for each session respectively. The principal Sr Norine D’Souza, staff and students were part of the session.
