Marrakesh, Apr 18: India has emerged as a key global hub for AI talent, reflecting the government’s and industry’s concerted efforts to foster an ecosystem conducive to AI adoption, said Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge), at the GITEX Africa 2025 tech summit.
Addressing delegates at Africa’s largest tech and startup event held in Marrakesh, Chaudhary highlighted how India’s robust Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) has transformed sectors like digital identity (Aadhaar), payments (UPI), e-commerce (ONDC), and healthcare.
“We are increasingly integrating advanced technologies – AI, cybersecurity, fintech and digital infrastructure – into our skilling ecosystem. The Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) has already onboarded over one crore users in just one and a half years,” the minister said, underlining opportunities for collaboration with African nations in technology and skilling.
The three-day summit saw global policymakers, innovators, and changemakers convene to discuss equitable digital growth and cross-border cooperation.
Chaudhary also emphasized India’s leadership in digitalisation, stating, “With our open-source DPI systems, India can help accelerate the pace of digitalisation in other developing nations through collaboration and knowledge sharing.”
On the sidelines, the minister held bilateral discussions focused on harnessing synergies in AI, capacity-building, and public-good tech. He shared India’s learnings on building inclusive, scalable digital solutions, signaling New Delhi’s commitment to supporting global partners in driving innovation and inclusive development.
