Moodbidri, Sep 13: Carmel School celebrated Coconut Day with great enthusiasm immersing the children in the wonders of one of nature’s most versatile offerings 'The coconut'. The day was packed with educational activities hands-on learning and plenty of fun all aimed at deepening the student’s appreciation for the coconut tree and its many uses.
The event began with an insightful session where teachers shared valuable knowledge about coconuts and their significance in daily life. Students of nursery and kindergarten were introduced to various parts of the coconut tree including tender coconuts peeled coconuts half-cut coconuts scraped coconuts and even coconut husks. These demonstrations helped the children understand the different forms and uses of coconuts.
Adding to the excitement children brought an assortment of sweets made from coconut showcasing the fruit's diverse culinary potential. The classroom turned into a mini exhibition as students displayed items crafted from coconut parts including coconut leaf watches spoons mats and ropes made from coconut coir. The creativity on display highlighted the many practical applications of the coconut tree.
One of the most engaging activities involved the children bringing coconuts without husks and participating in a craft project where they pasted coconut husk onto the outline of a coconut drawn on chart paper. Another fun activity was creating drums using coconut shells which the students thoroughly enjoyed.
The celebration ended on a high note with the children sharing their coconut-based sweets fostering a sense of community and joy. Alongside the fun they expanded their vocabulary and understanding of coconuts making the learning experience both enriching and enjoyable.
