Puttur: St Philomena College holds Youth Red Cross orientation

Puttur, Sep 11: The Youth Red Cross of St Philomena College, Puttur, organised an impactful orientation programme for its volunteers. The event was inaugurated with a tribute to Jean Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross and the first recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, with the garlanding of his portrait.

In his presidential address, principal Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro emphasised the need for students to embrace values beyond academic achievement. He highlighted that integrity, respect, perseverance, and compassion are the pillars of a meaningful life, reminding volunteers that the essence of education lies in the cultivation of humanity.

Resorce person of the day, Sushma Crasta, assistant professor in the Department of English, provided valuable insights into the history, objectives, and activities of the Youth Red Cross. Her words helped deepen the understanding of the mission of the Youth Red Cross Organisation.

Dr Dimple Jenifer Fernandes announced the list of interns, who were then recognised for their contributions. The programme began with a prayer led by Manasa and her team, Rumaiz of II BCA extended a warm welcome. Harshitha Lobo of II BSc proposed the vote of thanks, and Nifana Mol of II BSc compered the event.
