Mangaluru: St Aloysius organises day-long workshop 'Posa Vosar 2024'

Mangaluru, Sep 11: The department of Kannada, school of language and culture studies, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) organized a day-long workshop titled 'Posa Vosar 2024' for PU students on September 10 at LCRI hall.

Jayanna CD, deputy director of public instructions, was the chief guest and inaugurated the programme. He, in his speech said that the students should engage themselves in agriculture along with education.

Padmashri Satyanarayana Beleri, the conservator of various varieties of rice, was the guest of honor.

Fr Melwin Joseph Pinto, pro-chancellor of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), said that Satyanarayan Beleri has been a role model for others in the field of agriculture by processing, preserving and cultivating various varieties of rice.

Dr Praveen Martis, SJ, vice chancellor of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), said that farmers and soldiers are the most important assets of the country. He said that if the soldiers are protecting the country, the farmers are providing rice to the country. Satyanarayana Beleri is a role model for all of us, he added.

Dr Narendra Rai Derla, professor, Government First Grade College, Puttur. was the resource person. Dr Alwyn D’Sa, registrar of the college, Dr Ronald Nazareth, registrar of the University, Dr Melwyn D’Cunha, pro-chancellor, Dr Mahalinga Bhat, HOD of Kannada department and student coordinators were on the dais.

During the programme, Satyanarayana Beleri, Jayanna CD, Dr Narendra Rai Derla, Dr Vishwanath Badikana were honored for rendering notable services in the respective fields.

Dr Dinesh Nayak compered the programme. Dr Mahalinga Bhat welcomed the gathering and gave the insights of Posa Vosar 2024. Dr Vishwanath Badikana proposed the vote of thanks.
