It involves influencing and motivating individuals to achieve their best while fostering an environment of collaboration and growth. A leadership orientation programme was held at St Aloysius Pre- University College.
The programme commenced with an invocation led by the students' council members, setting a respectful and anticipatory tone for the session. Kiran Shetty, director of the students' council, introduced the speaker Dr Malini Hebbar, with great warmth and appreciation, highlighting her significant contributions to the field of education. Dr Hebbar, the former head of the department of English at St Agnes UG and PG and the current principal of Swastika Degree College, captivated the participants with her wealth of knowledge and interactive approach. Her session focused on the unique concept of "Leadership PIE," where PIE stands for the essential traits of a successful leader: Personality, Innovation, and Enthusiasm.
Dr Hebbar eloquently introduced her concept of leadership PIE, emphasizing the importance of personality as a leader’s authentic expression of self, Innovation as the ability to embrace change and foster creativity, and enthusiasm as the driving force that inspires others to follow. Dr Hebbar's session was brought to life through a series of interactive activities that effectively illustrated key leadership traits. These exercises emphasized the often-overlooked potential within individuals, the natural emergence of leadership in group settings, and the critical importance of coordination and focus in effective leadership.
By engaging students in practical tasks, Dr Hebbar not only reinforced her 'Leadership PIE' framework but also inspired participants to recognize and cultivate their own leadership abilities. The activities served as powerful reminders of the essential qualities that drive successful leadership, leaving a lasting impact on all who participated.
The participants, comprising class representatives from both I PU and II PU, engaged with enthusiasm throughout the session, eager to absorb and implement Dr Hebbar’s insights. Her vibrant energy and engaging delivery created an inclusive environment where all students felt comfortable stepping up. Her presentation was dynamic, seamlessly blending theoretical insights with practical, engaging activities.
