Davanagere, Jul 14: The investiture ceremony and honouring of the distinction holders of the PU College, took place on July 13 at Fr Stan Swamy Auditorium, St Aloysius Institutions, Harihar.
The programme began with an inter-religious prayer service. A welcome dance invited all to participate in the programme. The gathering was welcomed by Riza of II Commerce. The programme was ceremoniously inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp, followed by the inauguration of the house teams. The significance and the theme of each house was explained by the students.
Pascal Fernandes conducted the oath-taking ceremony of the Student Council Body and the badges were pinned to the 64 Council members and leaders by the dignitaries and all the lecturers present in the programme.
Another important part of the programme was the honouring the distinction holders of the AY 2023-24 as well as the top scorers in SSLC exams, who are currently in their first year PU in the college. These 41 achievers were honoured with a memento. This part of the programme was conducted by the coordinator of Competitive Exams, Baptist Sunny Gudinho. Later, the student body was addressed by Pushpalatha Urs who encouraged the students to be compassionate, competitive and to lead by example. Fr Eric Matthias SJ, the director and the president of the programme, in his presidential speech, emphasised on following the Universal Apostolic Preferences (UAPs) which are: Showing the Way to God, Including the Excluded, Accompanying the Youth and Care for the Common Home. He also encouraged the students to focus on the holistic development of every individual.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Tahseen of II Commerce. With the National Anthem the ceremony culminated. A photo session was held soon after the programme.
The dignitaries present for the programme were Fr Eric Matthias SJ, Fr AJ Vinod SJ, Pushpalatha Urs, principal, Mohsin Ulla and Pascal, vice principals, Jose Antony, the cultural coordinator and Sindhu, the programme coordinator.
The programme was compered by Sampreeth of II year Science in style.
