Mangaluru, Jul 11: The students of second year clinical psychology at post graduate department of clinical psychology, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru as a part of the curriculum, made a visit to First Neuro Brain and Spine Superspeciality Hospital on July 10.
The objective of the visit was to gain a deeper understanding of neurological disorders, the relevant testing technologies, treatment methods, management of symptoms, and the role of psychology in neurological disorders.
Upon arrival at the hospital, the students were warmly greeted by the staff. The visit included an orientation to each department of the hospital. The students were taken around the hospital where each department gave a thorough explanation of their role and functioning. The departments visited include the emergency room, department of neuro rehabilitation, neuro imaging and interventional neuroradiology, department of neuropathology, and ICU. The facility was well maintained and was well equipped with modern technologies.
The students were given a brief orientation about the various techniques and activities employed with patients in the department of neuro rehabilitation. A well detailed explanation of the workings of MRI was given at the radiology department. The facilities and tests at the department of neuropathology were also introduced
The visit to the hospital was a rewarding experience for the students. It was a unique opportunity to get a practical exposure to all the areas related to neurological issues.
The students intend to continue to visit and explore opportunities for further expansion of their knowledge through such visits.
