Mangaluru, Feb 14: The Grandparents Day was observed very meaningfully at St Aloysius College Higher Primary School on February 10 at 9.30 AM. The Grandparents of the students were accorded a warm welcome at the School Gate and were further escorted to the school hall by the band.
The programme kick started with the students seeking the blessings of the Grandparents present.
Harish Shetty and Arathi Shetty, Grandparents of Saadhya Rai, student of UKG were the chief guests of the day, along with Josita Noronha, headmistress, Victor Serrao, vice president of PTA, lighted the lamp and inaugurated the celebrations. Prayer, followed by dance, songs, all conducted by the little students brought a happy smile on the face of the Grandparents.
Liya DSouza, asst headmaster spoke on the importance of celebrating the day. Kalyanamma, Grandmother of a student of first standard spoke on her experience as a grandmother. Rosaline, another grandmother expressed her joy and shared her views on the role played by grandparents in the life of the little ones.
Arathi Shetty, chief guest of the function, also spoke on the occasion, sharing tips to handle grandchildren to make their childhood memorable. Thereafter, Collage with the topic of Grandparents; done by the students were left open for viewing and the best among them was awarded a prize. Josita Noronha, headmistress, gave her message, wishing both grandparents and grandchildren, happy times. The programme ended with a vote of thanks.
