Udupi: MIT to organize free 3D animation workshop

Udupi, Apr 5: The media and entertainment industry is currently valued at $27Bn, the industry is witnessing strong growth tailwinds and is poised to grow at 10-12% CAGR to become a $55-70Bn industry by 2030. The industry is primed to drive a continuously growing user base, consuming more and more content, through innovations in animation, OTT, gaming, and VFX. Multimedia has emerged as significant tool in education, entertainment and technical presentations.

The Indian animation, postproduction, VFX industry accounts for <10% share of the global market and has the potential to be a booming sector this decade on the back of several central and state government initiatives to provide ample job opportunities to the youngsters, develop infrastructure, intellectual capital and provide financial incentives for the industry.

Media technology department, Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal is organizing 6-day free workshop on '3D animation' for the high school and above students, to get an idea about 3D animation. This will help the students in understanding how the creative ideas can be converted into 3D digital production, animation.

Important topics covered in the workshop includes: 3D animation which includes modelling, texturing, lighting and rigging. Since 30 students is the maximum strength, early registration is recommended. Last date for registration on Google form is April 7. Confirmation of registration and workshop details will be provided to the selected students on April 8. The workshop will be commencing on April 10 and will be concluding on April 15. Timing will be from 9 am to 12 pm.
