Margao: BSNL Employees Seek Job Security, Rightful Remuneration

Margao, Jan 7: A delegation of employees of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, here have sought the help of MP Shnatarm Naik in providing job security and rightful remuneration to more then 250 employees.

The delegation included Sanjay Hadkonkar, Pradip Velip, Yeshwant Matu, Pramod Gookar among others.

In a memorandum submitted by the employees to Naik, they have
stated that after several years of service as contract workmen, they would like to have security of job at their respective workplaces.

They also demanded that all the contractors should be issued strict instructions to remit the provident fund contributions and Employees
State Insurance Corporation contributions to the statutory authorities
as required under the law.

All the contract workmen whose services are engaged by the BSNL-Goa be
paid the wages as per the notification issued by the Central Government which is dated May 20,2009.,  for all categories of work
linked to Variable Dearness Allowance, they said.

They also demanded that the contractors be issued instruction to provide the contract workmen facilities such as leave, holidays, weekly-off, bonus, overtime and so on.

Naik assured the employees that he will take up the matter with the Union Communication Ministry, at the earliest.
