YRC Annual Special Camp 2024 successfully concludes at St Thomas Higher Primary School, Alangar

Moodbidri, Nov 24: The YRC Annual Special Camp 2024 was held from November 15 to November 18 at St Thomas Higher Primary School, Alangar, Moodbidri, with a focus on fostering social service, leadership skills, and community welfare among young volunteers.

The camp was inaugurated on November 15 by Fr Melwyn Norona, parish priest of Holy Rosary Church, Alangar. Fr Arun Wilson Lobo, principal of Padua College, presided over the program, while Dr Gayatri N, YRC nodal officer, Mangalore University, attended as the chief guest.

Other dignitaries included P K Thomas, member of the municipal corporation; Alphonsa, headmistress of St Thomas School; Sr Sunitha, superior of Good Shepherd Convent, Alangar; Edward Serrao, vice president of the parish pastoral parishad, Alangar; and Lawrence Anil D'Cunha, secretary of the parish pastoral parishad, Alangar.

The three-day camp featured activities such as first aid training, visits to Mount Mary Hospital and Ashram, disaster management sessions, team-building exercises, and environmental sustainability projects. It aimed to instill values of teamwork, cooperation, and a sense of responsibility among participants.

A total of 44 YRC volunteers participated under the guidance of YRC program officer Prof Roshan Santhumayor, assistant program officer Zeena Cornelio, and faculty member Reshma D'Souza from the department of languages. Their presence added vibrancy to the camp and inspired the students to embrace the spirit of humanitarian service.

The camp concluded on November 18 with a valedictory program attended by chief guest Santhosh D'Souza. The event highlighted the skills and values acquired by the volunteers and underscored the importance of social responsibility and community service.
